BADDOG NEWS
Saturday June 12, 2010 Team Baddog had 3 fighters compete in Ground and Pound 11. Jay Willman won a hard fought unanimous 3 round decision against Alvaro Vallejo. After losing the first round, Jay took the next 2 to capture the win in an exciting featured bout. As usual Jay showed great poise and heart to bring his record to 8-1.
Next up was Jacob Kraus, who lost a close decision against Tyler Beckley for the 205 lb. Ground and Pound amateur title. The fight was a hard fought contest with a lot of back and forth action , with Jake almost ending the fight in the 2nd round with a right hand that stunned Tyler just as the bell rung to end the round. Jake continues to show a lot of promise and with Tyler turning pro, promoter Fred Vallejo promised Jake a shot again for the vacant title.
Ray Hernandez stole the show with a spectacular unanimous 3 round decision against Dave Parker to win Baddog’s first title, the 155 lb. Ground and Pound championship. Ray took control of the fight at the opening bell and dominated the action all 3 rounds to earn the title. Ray controlled all aspects of the fight from the start and was never in any trouble as he cruised to the 155 lb. title. Ray showed in this fight the discipline and dedication it takes to not only win this fight but to show everyone who saw the fight why he is looking to turn pro in the near future.
Team Baddog would like to give a special thanks to Chris Blanke, of Toledo Jiu Jitsu, for helping coach the night of the fight and for all of his efforts in helping to prepare the fighters for this and all of their fights. Chris is a major reason why team Baddog ran its overall record to 46-5 and showed why everyone involved is excited for the future.
Team Baddog would also like to thank Fred Vallejo, promoter AVJ events, for running a first class show and giving the fighters an opportunity to perform in front of their home town.
Team Baddog would also like to thank all family and friends who were at the event to show their support. It means everything to the fighters. Thank you!!
Special thanks to Baddog head coach Kelly Hymore for all the time and effort he donates to make each and every member of team Baddog better inside and outside the cage. None of our success would be possible without his dedication to Baddog MMA and everyone involved.
